Bio

I obtained a Master's Degree in Musicology in 1988 and a PhD in History of Art and Archeology from Paris IV & La Sorbonne University and ULB in 2007 with a thesis concerning Belgian piano makers. I work in the Musical Instruments Museum (MIM), Brussels, since 1995. I am currently in charge of keyboard instruments. I have conducted extensive research and published books and articles in this field. My research has been rewarded three times by the Académie royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts de Belgique, in 1991, 2009 and 2019. That year I aslo received the Nicholas Bessarabof Prize from the American Musical Instrument Society for the book: The Golden Age of Flemish Harpsichord Making. A Study of the MIM's Ruckers Instruments.
